How can I be more flexible in my hips?

Answered by Baron Baptiste, creator of Power Vinyasa Yoga.

I'm flexible except in the hips. I can't even pull my knees to my chest. How can I loosen them?

The vinyasa style, designed so one pose prepares you for the next, eases you into more intense stretches like Pigeon pose. Try this modified version: From a lunge with your right foot flat and your knee over your ankle, flex your left toes and lower yourself to your left knee. Put your hands down inside your right leg and hold. As you gain flexibility, lower yourself to your elbows and eventually lower yourself down into the full pose — right foot at left hip.

I pulled a muscle in my left side of my hip. My dr gave me a panflit of excercises to do. Any other suggestions?

My dr wants to do hip replacement surgery, becouse "bone-on-bone". I prefer not to have the "knife" he said nothing can replace the bones or the cartilidge between them. Is he right, or do I have other choice?
