Eating before Yoga?

Answered by April Martucci, RYT, LMT, head of Mind/Body programming for Reebok Sports Club/NY.

What's the best amount of time to wait to do yoga after eating a meal?

It's best to wait 2 hours before you start practicing.  It takes typically 2 hours to digest your food, and you do not want to have full stomach while practicing--plus,  those twists are really challenging when you are bloated! If you have to eat closer to class, keep it light. Save the meal for a post-class reward. You'll typically make better choices and may eat less then, too.

I really agree, your body requires time and energy in order to digest properly. If you use the energy for another activity you could experience all kinds of digestive problems including nausea, fermentation in the stomach from undigested food and more.
