What are the best poses for scoliosis?
-Silvia
Scoliosis is a complex condition with lateral curvatures of the spine. Try to determine where the concavity of your curve is. Then approach your condition by doing poses that: 1) stretch out the concavity, 2) strengthen the convexity (the opposite side) and, 3) de-rotate the entire spine. (Scoliosis not only involves side bending of the spine, but also a rotational fault of the bodies of the vertebrae. Therefore, you must try to de-rotate the rotated section.) Use big movements like standing poses. Try doing one side, then the other, and then the first side again to stretch out the concavity. And seek out the advice of a qualified yoga teacher to set up a personal program.
