Ask the Yoga Teacher
Can I lift weights and do yoga on the same day?
Answered by Kathleen Kastner, owner of Maya Yoga studio, in Kansas City, MO.
Because some yoga poses can be a form of strength training, can they be done daily? Also, can they be done on the same day as I use weights?

Yoga poses are definitely considered a form of weight-bearing exercise, because you’re using your body weight to build strength. You can do your yoga postures every day for strength training benefits, but I would not lift weights on the same day you do a strong yoga class; that’s too much on your muscles and joints.
In time, you may want to do more yoga and less weight lifting, unless you love weight lifting and are happy with the changes and results you see in your body. Yoga will give you longer leaner muscles, than weight lifting, so it depends what type of look and feel you want.
