Alternative Medicine Q&A

Q: I use a moisturizer and drink lots of water, but my skin still gets so dry in winter. What else can I try? –Cheyenne N., Shreveport, LA

A: First, make sure you're not unknowingly making the problem worse. Avoid excess showers or bathing, and use tepid, not hot, water. Don't wash with a non-moisturizing soap--plain soap is too drying (I recommend Dove). Also, after you drip-dry, try rubbing baby oil on your body just before toweling off. It won't make you feel greasy, and traps moisture in your skin.
